Navigating Leadership: The Crucial Role of Self-Leadership in High-Conflict Work Environments

Self-Leadership Blog

In the intricate tapestry of leadership, one fundamental thread often overlooked is the art of self-leadership. It's a concept that transcends the glossy veneer of success and digs deep into the core of personal development. Effective leadership isn't merely about steering teams through calm waters but, more importantly, about navigating the stormy seas, especially when faced with high-conflict situations at work.

Self-leadership is the cornerstone upon which the edifice of effective leadership…

Defining Active Listening-2

In a world filled with constant distractions and the ever-increasing pace of life, the art of active listening has become a rare and invaluable skill. This skill becomes even more critical when it comes to repairing and nurturing disconnected relationships. Permission to Be Real: Allowing your true self to be seen in a world of perfectionism

Permission to be yourself blog

In today's world, we are often pressured to conform to certain societal or cultural norms and expectations. We are constantly bombarded with messages telling us how we should dress, act, and even think. Keeping up with these expectations can be overwhelming and exhausting, and make us lose sight of who we truly are. It's important to remember that only you can give you permission to be yourself, and it's okay to embrace the real you.

Being yourself means being authentic and true to your values…

Be Kind Even When You're Right

Be Kind (1200 × 628 px)

WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE RIGHT, DON'T ABANDON KINDNESS

We've all been in situations where we are convinced we are right about something, but in our determination to defend our beliefs, we can be unkind, disrespectful or even hostile. This can be particularly challenging when it comes to discussions about politics, religion, or other sensitive topics. But what happens when you are in the board room or a brain storming session with your team and you feel passionately about something?

Here is the bo…

The Hustle, Bustle and Magic of the Holiday's

christmas-tree-3784021__480

There is just something about Christmas lights that makes this time of year magical for me. And if it snows, bonus! As exhausting as it is, I love decorating, shopping, baking, cooking, and wrapping. My favorite part is dinner, not because of the extraordinary amount of food on the table (although I am grateful for that), but because everyone I love is gathered there. It's the reminiscing, the storytelling, the bursts of laughter, and the sense of belonging and gratitude I feel. I never take for…

A Note of Gratitude on Thanksgiving

Gratitude - Blog Art

Thanksgiving is a time when we gather and give thanks for all of the many blessings we receive. I've never been more grateful than I am this year. But, unfortunately, my 14-year-old daughter suffered a traumatic brain injury last December while innocently tubing down the front lawn. She fractured her skull, had a brain bleed, a severe concussion and, eight staples in the back of her head. She spent six long and painful days in ICU before coming home on Christmas Eve to recover.

On October 3rd, …

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Breaking up

All relationships have a shelf life. Navigating the ending is the hardest part.

"Experience is the toughest teacher because she gives you the test first, then the lesson." ~ Anonymous

I spoke with a client this morning who is suffering a devastating breakup. I couldn't help but feel for her. The breakup was inevitable, but she had been hoping that things would somehow work out - in the lack of any evidence. We talked about how falling in love is often the natural and easy part.…

My Date With Destiny

Destiny-rev-800x500

I'm so excited to announce that in just 12 days, I will be traveling to Florida to spend time with one of the most influential and all-time favorite people in my life...Tony Robbins!!! I'll be attending a live event called Date With Destiny, and I can't describe how excited I am. I've done this event before, but it was 16+ years ago. I was five months pregnant at the time and struggling with morning sickness. I was just in a very different place in my life. I completed almost all of Tony's Maste…

The sun will end the day whether you like it or not

Sundown

I've seen many beautiful sunsets, but each time still feels like the first. It stops me dead in my tracks, forces me to look, and I can't help but feel incredibly grateful for it. I quickly took this picture and then stood in a moment of peace and reflection about my life. At that moment, I was reminded of how different my life was from even just a few years ago. The direction I thought I was going in isn't the place that I'm in now. Yet, I'm so happy it didn't.

Today, I thought of how the sun …

Letting Go

Let it Go - Blog Art

We will all face a time in our lives when we'll need to let go of something or someone when letting go is the opposite of what we want to do. When the thought of letting go is so painful that we'd rather hold on to a situation that might be equally painful so that we don't have to deal with it. Whether it's a break-up, a death, a loss of a job, a friendship, or whatever, letting go can be an extraordinary journey that can be painful and rewarding.

I recently met with a client struggling to walk…
